Admission Requirements

Individuals may be inadmissible to on any of the following grounds, which are defined in Sections 34 to 43 of the Immigration And Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Protection Regulations:

  • Security grounds
  • Violating human or international rights
  • Serious criminality
  • Organized criminality
  • Health grounds
  • Financial reasons
  • Misrepresentation
  • Non-compliance with the Act or Regulations
  • An inadmissible family member

These provisions and certain exemptions apply to all permanent residents, foreign nationals and protected persons in different ways.
